Paul Antonius Mixed Media Portrait 1988/94 – Original Signed Collage

CHF 1,300.00

This original mixed media wall work titled Portrait was created between 1988 and 1994 by Paul Antonius and reflects the artist’s distinctive exploration of layered form and abstract figuration. Executed in mixed technique using handmade paper, fabric elements, and acrylic, the composition reveals a subtle interplay of texture, color, and sculptural cut outs. Soft blue tonalities interact with muted red and yellow accents, forming an abstract facial presence that feels both intimate and expressive. The raw edges and dimensional layering give the piece depth and a quiet yet compelling physicality.

Restrained yet emotionally resonant, the work moves beyond traditional collage. Its balance of material, space, and gesture transforms the surface into a poetic field of tension and harmony, making it an exceptional acquisition for collectors of European contemporary art and refined design oriented interiors.
